Project Analysis
Project Analysis Services
The NMP’s comprehensive diagnostic offerings extend their utility to project analysis as well. Among these, the NMP provides targeted, quantified metabolite analysis, which includes the assessment of amino acids and organic acid fractions, for instance. This service proves highly beneficial when preliminary literature research suggests known metabolic alterations. The application of these analyses to specific research cohorts serves various purposes, including the identification of potential diagnostic or treatment targets, treatment monitoring, evaluation of animal models, and more.
In addition to targeted analyses, we offer untargeted analyses that aim to identify and relatively quantify a wide spectrum of metabolites using single or multiple methods. This approach is particularly popular in exploratory studies where the impact of factors like a disease state or external perturbations on the metabolome is under investigation, often generating new hypotheses. If your research requires the analysis of metabolites not covered by our standard services, we have the capability to develop and validate custom methods tailored to your specific needs.
Metabolomics instruments are typically high in cost, which can pose challenges for smaller research laboratories. Additionally, metabolomics analyses often form just one component of a larger research project, rather than being the core focus. Our project analysis service addresses these challenges, making metabolomics analyses accessible and cost-effective.
The NMP has provided project analysis services to numerous academic and research institutions across South Africa. While most projects involve human samples, we have also conducted research on specimens from various other mammals, including elephants, rhinoceros, cheetahs, dogs, and more. Many of these projects contribute significantly to postgraduate studies, resulting in theses, publications, and conference presentations. In addition to our local clients, we serve the international academic and industrial markets due to our accessibility, affordability, and credibility. Our project scope spans a wide range of research fields, encompassing pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, epidemiology, disease characterisation, personalised medicine, nutrition, wildlife conservation, speciation, and food sustainability.
All diagnostic and screening tests can be requested for project analysis, including the additional options listed below. Please contact us for pricing.
